Group Ride Levels
We will begin new ride designations based on ride intents or parameters, not just pace/speed. This should help riders to know what to expect on a ride.
Three levels:
Level III
Lots of regrouping —No one gets dropped —Ideal for newer riders. Distances should be in the 12-25 mi. range. If you don’t like stopping don’t do this ride.
Level II
Some defined regrouping —Pace is determined by ride leader, within that parameter no one is dropped who can maintain the pace.
Level I
Few if any stops —“No prisoners taken” —Slower riders will be on their own. Leader still determines pace, etc. This can still be a slower ride just steady, regrouping is optional.
Leaders are responsible for route and maintaining the pace “as advertised”.
Riders are responsible for being on time, so as not to hold up the group, also to be realistic in their ability to participate.
Lastly, we all bear some responsibility for one another.
To ride safely, point out road hazards and have our equipment in good shape.
We worry about cars and dogs, but we are the cause of most of our crashes.
